Overgrown Bushes

We have these two bushes on either side of our garage that have been bugging us since we moved in.  They wouldn't be so bad but my car mirror scrapes against it every time I pull into the garage and the other one blocks our walkway a bit.  I love landscaping but when it's overgrown and takes away from the house something has to be done!  We had a professional trimmer come out and trim them down but that didn't help much...he thought he'd kill them if he chopped off much more.

My cousin Dawey is was in town for the weekend and I mentioned we wanted to pull up those bushes and replant them along our backyard fence to give our pool more privacy.....he said "lets do it"
Well alright, don't have to tell me twice.

The deal with Landon is he is a thinker and has to have everything planned out and well organized before jumping into it.  The deal with me (and Dawey) is that we are feelers...we do what we want in the moment cause we feel like it......then eventually we think about it.
So no preparation...we just started digging and dealt with the problems as they came up.

This is gonna be fun to clean up.

There was only one causality.

Love this picture...looks like a tornado blew by haha.

One of the problems we stumbled upon was that it didn't fit very well
through the fence.
With much pushing and pulling it finally went through.

We got smart with the second bush and only dug it out halfway,
then we used my monstrous SUV to pull it out the rest of the way.
It was AWESOME! Isn't my Lexus a beast lol!

A Good Excuse For Cake!

Our wonderful next door neighbors have moved away. Brielle really loved playing with their daughter so we were sad to see them go.  We met the new ones about a week ago and they seemed nice and they have a 6 year old girl and a 2 1/2 year old little boy....just like we will have someday.
It also gave me a reason to make some cake and eat it too!

We made cherry cake balls and bought them a card to welcome them to the area.

She kept sniffing it "mmmm smells chocolaty!"

She's so fun to cook with now that she's a bit older and more coordinated.

That kid ate about a handful of cherries.
She had a hard time grasping the concept that you couldn' lick each
cherry and then expect me to use it in a cake ball lol.

Licking the cooked cake off the spoon
(we're not raw cake or cookie dough eaters, there's uncooked egg in there!)

Tada!! Hope they like chocolate!

Love baking with my girl!

St Patty's 2013, Take 2

(Apparently my first St. Patty's Day Post didn't work and half my pictures were missing,
lets try this again!)

We started off St Patty's day with breakfast and Princesses.

I told him he's come a long way from his frat days.
He replies that his life has just gone downhill since those glory days.
He loves us I promise!
Patty's Day isn't something we celebrate huge around here.
We put on our green, mostly because I hate being pinched!

We did find out about parade we wanted to go to at the Stockyards.

Worst petting zoo ever.  He hardly pet a thing and all the animals were over it.
Glad I didn't spend $3 on food like the rest of the folks cause everyone pretty
much ended up throwing it into the cages cause the animals were too full.

The camel was precious, he was so enjoying being pet,
he acted just like a dog.

Then it was off to eat, luckily Landon found us a spot
while we were in the petting zoo that didn't have a 2 hour wait.

Our server wasn't the best and after being there a while we finally got his attention to bring us some chips and salsa.  He brought salsa and went off to find chips.  While he was on the search I stuck my finger in the hot sauce to try it out and see how spicy it was ( I don't do hot stuff) it was to warm for my liking.  Waiter came back and they were out of chips...um isn't this a Mexican food restaurant? Any who he asked if we still wanted the salsa and we said no.  He picked it up and instead of taking it to the kitchen to throw away he set it back up front with the other salsas waiting to be served to customers....yes my fingery salsa was going to get eaten by unexpected Joe lol..........
don't worry, I washed my hands!
After lunch we watched the parade which was mostly horses but that's ok.
We headed to the kid area where they had face painting and kids activities but apparently all that ended after the parade.

So we settled for the candy store.
Landon and I loaded up on every flavor of taffy you could find!
B got a candy necklace.

Brielle loves the little Disney show Sophia The First.
Sophia has a horse named Minimus.
Here's "Sophia"  riding "Minimus"

She's telling me that Bree (her baby doll) is in her tummy ha.

It's a successful trip when this one falls asleep in the car.

Happy St Patty's Day!

New Carpet!

We are finally getting new carpet put in!!! HOLLAAA!

Like I've said a hundred times the people who lived here before us took no pride in this home. Why did we buy it then...the floor plan was perfect (and it had a pool!) but it needed some care and remodeling.  Our little home is very happy we bought it and we are taking much better care of it.
Look at the stains on the stairs...they were 10 times worse upstairs.
(we did not notice when we bought the house because they had the carpet professionally cleaned but like all cheap nasty carpet the stains seeped back up and reappeared slowly but surely)

Goodbye yuk!

Oh my goodness, doesn't that feel better!

Brielle stayed out of the way and enjoyed some episodes of Dora.

I gave Neely a haircut, a really bad one at that cause my razor is a piece.

Now she looks like she has the mange ha. Oh well it'll grow back.

When we get the rooms the way we want them I will post before and after pictures.
That's my moms couch, we will be sitting on the floor when she moves out.
I want a sectional for family game nights!

Now if I could just convince Landon to replace those nasty tile counter tops.
I don't understand tile counter tops, stuff gets in the grout and that grosses me out,
 totally unsanitary.
